Background

Growing Teachers involvement in public schools is focused on improving literacy instruction for all students and supporting professional learning communities through research-based methods, teacher mentoring, school-site courses and workshops.  Additionally, we work closely with teachers, teacher-leaders, coaches, and school administrators to sustain this growth by reviewing, evaluating, and reforming ongoing literacy work.

The consultants at Growing Teachers have worked with nearly 40 urban, suburban, rural, charter and private schools across the country to help establish state-of-the-art balanced literacy classrooms that include reading and writing workshops.

Growing Teachers is committed to helping teachers and learning communities plan, implement, and reflect on research-based instructional strategies that integrate language, content and convention standards in literacy instruction.

Growing Teachers has extensive experience supporting the teaching and learning of culturally, economically and linguistically diverse students in grades K-8.
